The best introduction to our food forest is here. The forest serves as a unifying structure that all our projects feed into. It also epitomizes our homestead goals of self sufficiency and community service.
We use the term “forest” broadly to include not only the orchard, but the vegetable and herb gardens, the vineyard, ornamental plants, and the tree line at the back of our property. Denizens of the forest include our family as well as the chickens and bees. We will try to tie all of these elements together to turn the existing green wasteland of a lawn into a beautiful powerhouse of food production.
