Seed Starting Time!

7 Feb

We got the broccoli seeds started this week. We’re going to be at a family reunion at a critical period during the seedling starting process, so Angie’s mom has kindly volunteered to start our tomatoes and bell peppers.

We’ll be moving the chickens into their warm-season paddock in a week or two and then we can prepare the garden for planting. We aren’t going to till this year, but we do need to fill in all the dust baths the chickens dug over the winter. Then we’ll lay out the black plastic sheeting and transplant the broccoli. The tomatoes and pepper plants will get transplanted closer to Memorial Day, which is the traditional frost-free date here.

Spring is nearly here!
